We cook on daily basis. Some cooking smell can be overpowering. Frying bacon, spicy curry, cooking fish…. the smell can linger for hours. What can we do to minimize the unpleasant cooking odours? Small apartments can get easily smelly.
There are lots of ways to get rid of cooking odours – Spic and Span Cleaners, with a help from our customers, have chosen the most effective ones to share with you.
1. CLOSE ALL DOORS IN YOUR FLAT/HOUSE
Cooking greasy food makes our clothes very smelly. We don’t want our bedroom or cabinet to smell of cooking. Close all cabinet doors so it won’t go into the fabric. The fabric is absorbing the
smell and it can smell for days. And it’s not pleasant to sleep in a smelly room.
2. VENTILATE
Before you start cooking, prepare. Open kitchen window put the stove vent on, use an air filter, or use a fan in the kitchen-pointed towards the open window, it will help quickly to get rid of the smell and will help for greasy odour not to set on kitchen cabin, worktop.
3. CLEAN
Clean while you cook. Don’t leave to much work for you after you finished cooking. Wash up everything, don’t leave overnight any dirty pans, pots and especially the wooden spatula and chopping board. They absorb odour, especially onion and garlic smell. And wipe your oven hob from any grease and splatter.
4. NATURAL AIR FRESHENER
We all have the fragrance that we like. There is pleasant smell from lots of spices that we have in our kitchen. Boil Cinnamon stick, cloves, citrus peel, leave cut lemon in a bowl, orange…it will reduce the cooking odour
Clean once a week your fridge, wash up your rubbish bin, buy plug-in air fresheners or scented candles. Or simply roast coffee beans if you are a coffee lover.
